The spirituality of imperfection/L'imperfection comme spiritualité

What an intriguing title! I am the lucky recipient of the book that bears it, by Ernest Kurtz and Katherine Ketcham, a Bantam Trade paperback. I was offered it by a friend in New Zealand who was giving me his feedback on my book. Somehow we got on to this topic and hey presto! He kept his promise to send it to me. More on it when I've got further into it!
It reminds me of another book I read as I was wiritng my book: Tomber sept fois, se relever huit, written by Philippe Labro, author, journalist and filmmaker. The striking title is a Japanese popular poem, and is a message in itself: don't give up on hope. You may not get out of your mess first time round, but one day you will. But admit your mess.
Becky Pippert, of Out of the Saltshaker fame, makes a similar point when addressing Christian audiences around the world. People are hurting and so much in need of the message of the Bible, but if you don't live authentically, recognizing the mess in your life, you won't be able to lead them to the help you've found, in the person of Jesus Christ.
I guess it's all about finding in Christ the freedom to be ourselves, warts n' all. And this enables us to be "one story people", integrated, authentic and therefore trustworthy.
